3.9 Wave diffraction by gaps

When waves are diffracted by gaps they spread out and bend outwards.

The diffraction is at its maximum when the gap is about the same size or smaller than the wavelength of the wave.

The wavelength of a wave does not change after they are diffracted so make sure that when you are drawing these that the distance between the diffracted, curved waves is the same as the original ones.
